Music - Playing, listening and writine

I have always had an interest in music. My dad played guitar and sang, along with his brother, so I have always been exposed to "front porch picking". I like to listen, to explore different types of music, and I like to play. I like almost all types of music. Rock, Celtic, Bluegrass, some that can't be classified. I have played guitar off and on for many years, and also play a little banjo, although I am pretty rusty on that instrument. I started playing mandolin a few years ago and I really like it. I play with a church band called LightHouse, mostly contemporary Christian music. We released a CD late in 2005 with eight original songs and a couple of covers. Many of the band members contributed songs. I have 2 songs on the CD.

Besides the instruments already mentioned, I have played hammered and mountain dulcimer, harmonica, and Irish whistle. Today I play mostly acoustic guitar, mandolin and harmonica.

I have also started writing and recording some of my own songs, and started performing at some of the local open mics around town.
